Passports to Success Update – August 2016

Passports to Success Highlights

Communication: Elements of Communication- Presented by The Eddie Nash Foundation on Saturday August 27th had an amazing turnout of Foster Youth from Orange County. Most of the youth came from group homes throughout the county as well as some who attended with their CASA’s or caregivers. Youth and their Trusted Adults focused on improving their communication with each other and various significant relationships in their lives. The youth engagement level was OUTSTANDING!  Many of them came out of their shell during a role playing session demonstrating “barriers to communication,” in their relationships.  Each participant walked away from this four hour session with confidence in “how to” be a better communicator in their efforts togive and receive understanding. The feedback from the trusted adults, and youth alike, included great praise for our facilitators; Trinity Wallace-Ellis and Dr. Greg Manning. Here is one young man had to say about his experience at Passports to Success this month, “I love it here every time. I appreciate every single thing that has been done for me and my peers. Thank you for the knowledge and wisdom you put in my head. Thanks!” ~Bennie, age 19
